| Match Officials Course to take place at Elmbridge |
![]() Another RFL Match Officials course will take place at Elmbridge Eagles on Sunday 9th May.
This is an excellent opportunity for players, coaches and parents to increase their understanding of the laws of the game as well as providing an entrance into refereeing for those wishing to begin officiating. Over the course of the day participants are taught the theory behind the game, the laws of the game through a series of interactive sessions using videos as well as outdoor practical sessions. The course not only gives participants an increased understanding of the laws of the game but gives an insight into the mindset and processes a match official undergoes during a match. For those resident within any of the London Borough’s there is the opportunity to claim the Official Sports London Bursary. This is up to the value of £350 and anyone over the age of 16 can apply, this bursary covers travel expenses, course costs as well as equipment costs for those thinking of coming into refereeing the game and don’t currently have equipment. The course will run from 9:15 until around 4pm at Elmbridge Eagles, Oaken Lane, Claygate, Surrey, KT10 9BZ. The cost of the course is £25 (£12.50 for U18s and students). For this participants get a certificate which does not expire, as well as a copy of the laws of the game book and a pre course guide covering signals and other important parts of the game.
